Wesley Mission Connexion Church

The Wesley Mission Connextion Church was officially formed in 1993 by Reverend Anare Maravu and the Former President of the Methodist Church in Fiji the Rev Josateki Koroi, with the former General Superintended Rev Sakaraia Nasau together with the church elders splitting from the Methodist church in Fiji with its Chiefs and the vanua Elders. This was due to some disagreement between the Rewa Circuit back then and the decisions made by those at the Methodist Headquarters which was done accordingly from the chiefly decision and not the conference. Some of the decisions were politically motivated which was not easily accepted by the Rewa church elders.
Some of the causes of the disagreement was the formation of Natogadravu Circuit and the transfer of Reverend Maravu before his five year term was due. The elders in Rewa and all the church members requested if Reverend Maravu could complete his five year term before being transferred to Navosa. However, this was not accommodated by Methodist Headquarters’. All these issues was caused by the chiefly decision from Rewa by the Marama Bale na RokoTui Dreketi that Rev Maravu should leave Rewa. This decision was not done from a Methodist church conference but from a non-member and this was the cause of the church split.

MEMBERSToday there are three divisions including Nabuna, Narusa and Burenivalu.
